Members Greg Wood & Richard Suidak of the Aviation Enthusiasts Group of WA (AEGWA) visited SABC one last time this year, as 2013 comes to an end.

Our visit today included seeing Luis Ricardo engine start his Titan T51 Mustang replica for just the 3rd time, which is still under construction with steady progress being made since our last visit end of September. Can't wait to seeing this beauty looking finished later in 2014 wearing former RAAF markings.

Many thanks to SABC members who made us welcome yesterday & look forward to 2014.

SABC Open Day Sunday 29th September 2013

The Sports Aircraft Builders Club (SABC) again this year on the last Sunday in September hosted their annual Open Day, over 100 aircraft logged on the day were either on display, some others in various stages of construction, others undergoing re-building and being repaired from mishaps.

Serpentine never fails to disappoint & this year was no exception with no less than 10 new aircraft recorded for the first time, sadly the weather didn't play its part and although cloudy with patchy rain  it still was an enjoyable day out.

Here is a small representation of what we saw this visit:

Serpentine resident Jabiru St 24-3075 msn St0005 crashed landed on the banks of the Serpentine - Jarrahdale 'Wungong Dam' early this morning on a planned flight from Serpentine Airfield to York and return, when the aircraft's engine stalled en-route and the pilot was unable to re-start the engine.

The aircraft was purchased from a deseased estate the same day at a cost of A$30,000 and was on its first flight with the new owners when it crashed, the aircraft was fully insured.

We last noted the aircraft 'intact' at the last SABC 'OpenDay' which was last held on 30th September 2012

SABC 'Open / Non Flying Day Sept 30th 2012

Serpentine Aircraft Builders Club (SABC) hosted there annual 'Open Day' at there airfield on Sunday 30th September 2012, together with Porsche,  Rolls Royce car clubs and vintage motor cycle display.

This year's visit revealed 25x new aircraft for us, with a total number of aircraft logged for this visit being 88, (some of which are in the images below).

It was a great day out as usual, catching up also with fellow enthusiasts, David Eyre and Keith Anderson representing AAWA.

It was with dissapointing  that no aircraft flew on the day, this was we understand due to a representative from Civil Aviation Safety Aurtority being present on the day.
